Recipe Step by Step Instructions
Step 1. Set your trivet or steamer rack at the bottom of your instant pot*.
Step 2. Add 1 cup of water.
Step 3. Place a single layer of eggs (about 6) onto the trivet or steamer rack*, spaced as evenly apart as possible. Do not stack the eggs unless you have stackable trivets, since the eggs need space on all sides to evenly steam.
Step 4. Close the lid on your instant pot, then make sure the steam handle release is on the "Sealing" position.
Step 5. Press the "Manual" button and set it to "High Pressure." Use the +/- buttons to set the cook time:
- For soft-boiled eggs: 3 minutes
- For hard-boiled eggs: 5 minutes
Step 6. While waiting for the instant pot to pressurize and steam, prepare an ice water bath using water and ice.
